Hey everyone-
Here are some more photos, as promised, including a very crude dio mock up. I'm interested to hear what everyone (esp. our Supreme Blondness) on the idea. I have a photo of a KV like that in a Concord book. The idea is that the KV collapsed the bridge it was trying to cross, and the Germans have built another one, which the little guy is crossing. The figures will be posing on the KV, along with a photographer. The KV will not be in whitewash, that's just a stand in. There will also be another bridge in front of the panzerjager, and the remnants of theold one under the KV.
I also included some other progress photos. To keep the storage "fence" in place, I soldered a small brass rod to the center, and drilled a corresponding hole in the hull. The is far more sturdy than just super glue al9ong the bottom. I also soldered where the top bends over, which brings up another minor gripe- the p.e. is slotted where it is to be bent, which aids in felxibility, but you can still see the slots. I tried filling them with putty, but I'll probably end up using solder to fill it in.
I also took some better shots of the interior, much of which is nearly impossible to see with the gun and shield in place!
Let me know what you all think, I enjoy and appreciate the input!

Oh yes the diorama idea looks nice , so will the back of the KV be submerged in water ? It will be a very high diorama , I think to add to the dynamics it would be good to have the figures at different eye levels , to add to the feeling of the enormity of the KV , have the photographer on the bridge height , one man standing on the turret (so higher than him ), one on the drivers panel & another on the glacis plate so you will have all three above the height of the photographer , looking down on him , emphasising the enormity of the KV .

Shags , I use the really thin superglue to fill the gaps in PE , because of its viscosity it helps with the capillary action & in conjunction use some zip kicker . The thin superglue will fill the grooves & the zip kicker makes it stay there & not run out , you just need to run it into the trench & then I use a small amount of Zip Kicker from a Hypodermic syringe to set it .

Jenny-
Thanks for the ideas about the figures, that's kinda what I had in mind. I'll play around with them more when I get to that stage.
And I really like the superglue idea, don't know why I didn't think of it myself. Question I still don't get using slots at all! Mad

Huggies?????? ..... Shocked Shocked Shocked .... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Regarding your diorama, I think it´s great. With your permission, let me tell you one idea

Why do not you just cut the lower part of the KV? So, the Dio won´t be so high. This will reduce the size of the diorama, less surface to paint and detail and will make it even more impressive as all action is more reduced to a single point of view.

Jose-
Thank you!!! cheers cheers cheers
I've been waiting for someone to comment on the Huggies! I use the empty containers for storage, it just happened to be on the workbench at the time, and was the right height.
Thanks very much for the suggestion, too. I had thought about cutting down the KV, but I'm not sure. Part of what I like is the height, and you can compare the full size of both vehicles.
Right now I'm just trying to finish up the little bugger and get some paint on it before I worry too much about the dio.

Hey Shaggy , I got my Pz Jaeger I & guess what ? There are tiny little marks on the floor panel for the ammo boxes & the support will be a really tight fit when they are glued in ! I will take a picture of it ! It would be terrible easy to miss them though!

Thanks, I guess my eyes are starting to go now, too! Shocked
Well, I would still hold off on placing them, just because you need some room to manuever the gun mount into place.
I have the suspension and tracks finished, I just need to fire up the old digital camera again. Should get some paint on her this week! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Bob, your interior chipping looks very nice - well balanced and that´s why authentical.

Take care, that all is covered very well before you bring the airbrush in action for the outer areas.

Outstanding job on that interior Bob; the weathering is spot on!

Your idea for the diorama is a very good one; it certainly emphasize the "diminutiveness" of the panzerjager. The only thing I would change is the height of it, maybe making the river a little less deep. After all, those tanks were so heavy that everything was an obstacle to them.

Keep the good work

Hey guys-
Thanks for the comments.
Alex- Try the group builds, they are alot of FUN! This is the first online G.B. I've done, and I'm enjoying it. I have to fire up the ole digital camera, my lil panzerjager is now painted and ready for weathering. Smile Smile
Now, though, modelling time is reduced because I am renovating my bathroom. Sad My wife is a heck of a foreman, too, so I have to keep busy! I'll post some pics real soon.

Hey guys-
Sorry about the long delay in updating the panzerjager, but here it is. With most of the major construction finished, the interior and suspension were taped off, and everything was primered with Tamiya primer, then preshaded with Nato black:

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt1

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt2

Then, I airbrushed everything with a light mix of panzer grey, mixing Tamiya german grey, deck tan, and flat flesh. I also tried the modulation approach, using progressively lighter colors on the upper parts of the vehicle:

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt4

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt7

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt9

After this was finished, I decided to go for it and added the green camo, using Vallejo Air camo light green:

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt12

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt13

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt14

Then, I added the storage on the back. The wood box was painted with different colors of yellow from the vallejo range, which was then covered with a Vallejo product called "wood stain". I am really pleased with the effect.

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt11

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt20

All the storage was held on the back using a thin piece of wire:

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt19

Shaggy's Panzerjager I-FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3 Pt22

And that's all the pictures I have for now. I have been adding filters, and fixing small errors with the storage. Hope you like it so far, I know I do!

I like your 38t, too, it's a shame it's not eligible (Laura.... Evil or Very Mad )
I will take some more pictures soon, it's got markings, more storage, and some filters applied. My problem is clearing off my workbench to take the pictures!!
Also, I know there are alot of clogs on the muffler screen and storage rack, but you can't see them after all the stoarge is added. You can see alot more faults AFTER you post the pictures, did you ever notice that? Mad

Bob, if you would know, how often I must plan my day with Eastern Central or California time... you would despair. I must plan my working hours in consideration of the office hours of my US costumers.

So sometimes I live in Germany very strange. Working in the evening and half of the night - but have time for hard training at 9 in the morning... lol!

Hi Shagster ,

A very cool review . I think that people forget the level of magnification there is on models in these pictures. What seems like a major flaw is unnoticable with bare eyes . I will say sometimes the first time I notice a piece of etch has fallen off is after I have posted it ! Rolling Eyes

People should realise how tiny a Panzerjaeger I actually is !

Hey Jenny-
Thanks, but no thoughts about the ciggies? I put them in there for you! I know, you'll be more excited once I put some foliage on this beast! Twisted Evil
And, yes, you have to see this thing in person to realise how smallit really is! I think it's the smallest tank I ever built!
Well, I'll be posting another update alot sooner than it took me to do this on! It's eally turning out well, I'm pretty happy with it, which is saying something for me! Wink

Oh sorry I meant to comment but I must have forgot ! Embarassed They are very cool , Richie has some from a company called "Alexander the Great" & you have to fold them just like a real packet , Madness !

You see how just a small detail like that can add the extra character to a vehicle ! a touch of colour to add some visual appeal !

I find these tiny tanks are very rewarding though too , no doubt you are feeling the reward for all your efforts now ?
