My Marder3M updated 2/27/09 finished
Okay, I had to change directions with this little *$#%@ !! The Tamiya kit makes it tough to put rounds in the shell holders and I ruined enough resin shells trying!
So....no crew, no interior, it will now become a tag-along trailer for my Famo!
I'm going to have the drive sprockets off as if it suffered transmission damage and they can't tow it with sprockets. I've already shortened the kit tracks as the fruils I was going to use don't fit the rear idler.
I scratched a cabin and gun cover as per a pic I found on the net a while back. I haven't finished with the muzzle cover yet. I'll post more when I get a chance to work on it.
Too many campaigns and commission work to actually get anything finished for myself.

mighty fine work here! hang tough, in the end persistance will pay!
together with a famo trailer - oh boy this will look awesome!
and i love the tarp! the wet paper technique i the best one out there to replicate tarps - i tried it once myself and was blasted with the realistic outcome!

Looking alright
I think this is looking okay , but I would love to have seen an interior . Are you going to use any aftermarket stuff on it at all ?

Sorry Jenny......
My crew that I was going to use is for the Marder3 76.2mm russian gun version, so they wouldn't fit well without a lot of conversion.
My fruils didn't fit the drive or idler sprockets, so they went back to the stash box.
I hate seeing a SP gun with an open cab that has no ready rounds, very unrealistic even for the end of a battle,so no open cab.
Not to worry though, all the crew of the Famo will be getting Tank and Warrior heads, as well as, some minor conversion. I will try to make it worth your while!
Laura, I agree with you, the tissue tarp method is one of the best. I was trying to find Cromwell tarps for the Famo and found Decal Star is making what appears to be a ripoff of Cromwell's. I would have had to spend a small fortune to get tarps for all my Famos, so I just got out the brass wire and tissue paper. If you'd like I can post a pic of the Famo as well.

Hey do not be sorry
I was just a bit dissapointed because I love seeing the lived in area , it really brings a model to life .
I know it is too late now but I would have had a repair vehicle unloaded . My job involves handling explosives and I guarantee if this vehicle was going near a workshop with welding & cutting equipment , they would have made the crew unload it first !

Different
Hey , this will be a different looking Marder too , I like the idea of it loaded on a famo trailer !

I think I need to
clear up my grammatic boo-boo. The Famo will be towing it, but not on the trailer. It will be towed behind the Famo using the dual crossbars. My famo w/trlr kit will be towing a pzr4d tauch.
Sorry about the misunderstanding!

I love the interiors like Jenny, but I think is not important and this way the model is different. The tarp is very nice, if you paint it in a reallistic way it'll help to your model to be superb.
Happy modelling

i love both! they will look awesome together!
but maybe you can change the camo of both so that they differ a little bit? now they look as if both got their camo on the same day by the same person and not in different workshops - see what i mean?
what puzzles me is the antenna base over the tarp? did you forget to attach it earlier? (just a question!)

I didn't.........
forget the antenna base Laura. It was added after the tarp was cured to make the tarpwork easier. I will paint it to match the Marder when the tarp is finished. As for the two looking the same, the green on the marder is darker and the two will be weathered differently to change the overall appearance. The photos don't show the color differences very well at this point.

The tarp looks sharp!
Okay, not my best rhyme, but that is a neat looking Marder, the tarp sets it apart from the usual look.

It does look cool
I have to admit that it does look cool & in context with a towed vehicle , Looking forward for the diorama
