Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
i'll do it OOTB (more or less - AMS) but will exchange the vinyl tracks with either DML Magic Tracks, Friul, Modelkasten or WW2Production (still undecided!)

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
with my current build on the finishing line i thought i start this one here with a summary of what i will use:
- tamiya marder kit
- dml aufklärungspanzer interior
- tristar glass blocks
- pe from dml, tristar and eduard
- figures from tamiya's wespe and masterbox panzercrew 1943-1945, tristar, verlinden and warriors
not visible are the tracks i will use and the dio parts ... i took the pics on a part of today's newspaper to show that i haven't started yet:
the magic tracks most probably won't be used on this one!

tintin is my all time not to beat favorite comic and i have all issues as well - all but "tintin in sowjetland" and "tintin and alpha art" i admit - (and all asterix issues of course!) captain haddock is unbeatable (and once i made a list of all his curses to learn them )
that is an article about tintin's 80th birthday i found interesting and when reading it turned out to be just some journaille smartassing about tintin and globalism!

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
okay - time to throw in the Cyanide!!!
i assembled the lower hull and banged in the dml aufklärungspanzer interior! as it was already glued in place when i received this donator kit i had to do power-cutting. it didn't work out perfect everywhere but who cares as most of this won't be seen after final assembly anyway! additionally i glued some wiring in place that the tamiya hull lacks - two times wire, one time stretched sprue!
the fitting of the parts is typical tamiya - they never stop to amaze me with their perfection!
next will be the radios and the glass blocks!
EDIT: i just noticed that i made a mistake on the RHS interior and have to move the replacement barre more forward and redo the upper wire ... no big deal!

thanks domingo!
now it's not that clean any more and the gear doesn't fit that good but ... no one will ever see!
domin wrote:Do you have radio photos?
the only reference i have are the cmk instructions for their interior set but this is sufficient as i could identify the needed radios
i just returned from the bench after the corrections i had to do - i cut away all the RHS interior and reglued them as they should look (should not have used dml's molded on details as reference!) ... basic but sufficient for what can be seen after completion. i also had to rip out the firewall and to trim it so that the upper structure would fit AND i had to make an angled cut to the dml front armor shield (has the interior details!) so that it will sit flush ... pics tomorrow!

Hey Ruben can you post this on our links page too ?
You deserve the credit for it ! I have a big book specifically on German Radios but it is a bit boring really , no one needs to know that much about them , it goes through every damned wierd radio they ever made

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
thanks for the radio link ruben - thanks jenny! here's one for you!
well - as promised pic update today as i was back at the bench working!
out of curiosity i wanted to know if i still knew how to handle my soldering iron and soldered the radios together:
then i glued the radios together and had to scratch a frame for them as the rack from the eduard pe wasn't suitable for the marder. so i glued four sheets of paper together, let that dry and cut the pieces of the frame ... not very spectacular and not top notch but sufficient like all the other parts i banged in the hull already:
as i want to have the visors open i need glass blocks so i took those of my previous panzer38(t) build i hadn't used and tinted them green ... i like the glass blocks green ... looks so ... unfriendly:
then i dryfitted the radio rack to the interior. the modified RHS can be seen - i still have to glue a little detail to that square thingything next to the vision slit:
after that i dryfitted the upper part of the marder to see if it sits flush and to see how much will be visible after closing the hull:
that's it for today!

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
Looking nice from where I'm sitting Laura. I've yet to build Tamiya's Marder III Sdkfz139, I've been told it's a gem.
Looks like a fun kit to build.
Cheers
Julian

Hiya Laura
Really nice work so far Laura , I love the new Dragon glacis , much betterer . It is cool listening to your music that influences you while you build . I must admit that is one of my favourite songs too !
"F L A , his name is Ned "
Bad news is You glued one of the radios in upside down DAG !!!!!
You are so funny , I am laughing so hard now !

Yes , my bet is she has them both upside down now

... no! ... you DAG!
uff! i didn't know how much time such a small part like a glacis plate can take but i think only this took me 1 1/2 hours to get this far. the glacis plate, visors and mg are dml, glass blocks, left visor handle and pe are tristar and that ring holding the mg is tamiya.
it's strange how the dml and tamiya parts interact and fit together - honni soit qui mal y pense!
then i needed a break and thought it would be a nice distraction to glue the masterbox figure together. the details are - well there are some smaller details but barely visible ... whatever! i started to sculpt a pullover and fit a verlinden head in (i think it was a verlinden head telling from the resin but frankly spoken i can't remember) ... still a lot work with that one:
NO! he's not praying!!!
and this is where the marder stands now:
next will be the headphone and then i can finish the interior paintjob and go on to the running gear!
