Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
bob, jenny! i am glad you like it - thanks for pushing me forward!
but i have to dissapoint you - no whitewash!!! the dio i am up to do shall depict a scenery in mid/late october when it's already cold enough for germans and italians on the eastern front to get bad and depressive mood aware that daddy snow/the real cold mess is still expecting them!
i repeat: no whitewash!!!
i still had so much black in the airbrush that i thought "why not now?"

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
Nice pre-shading..... it really sets a good base for weathering.
Lara..... if I may say........ I like the pics on the workbench........but....emmm........ I think your model will look so much better if presented with a clean backdrop...... you know... studio-like shot? All you need are three low wattage energy saving lights (cool daylight) and a cardboard in white or blue. The problem is how to support the lights..... I never got round to think of something and have a crazy rigging to hang the lights!
Regards
Noel

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
thanks noel!
you may say noel!
the BIG problem is - i don't have space for setting up a photo boot so i have to go with the three lamps on my desk and try my best! during a wip i am not too keen to take the model down from the attic where i build to the living room desk where i can place a white or blue cardboard more easy than upstairs when the deask is full with building and painting stuff! a photo boot would be perfect but i do not have and do not have the space anyway ... it is a neverending dilemma i am in with photographing!
i will try lateron to free some space on the bench and do some better shots with blue cardboard - ok?

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
how i love it to bring myself into a dead-end street!
i do not any ss unit as a matter of principle! i avoid it wherever i can! so far so good! i decided to go with decal option #5 - 2nd tank destroyer battalion, autumn 1942! i presumed that this was the 2nd batallion of 2nd panzerjägerabt. attached to 12th panzerdivision! then decal #13 let me startle, it's the wolfsangel of 2nd ss-division "das reich". after several hours of searching i found out that tamiya's decal option #5 depicts a marder of a panzerjägerabt. attached to 2nd ss.
stubborn as i am i refused to apply the wolfsangel so this marder is and stays wehrmacht! as i had no place for the panzerdivision emblem stencil i left this one out also - as alternative to the original i chose "2. panzerjägerabteilung, 2. battalion attached to 12. panzerdivision" located in nevel, heeresgruppe nord, october/november 1942 but without divisional sign.

Wait, I'm confused, are you whitewashing it or not? Women can be so vague...
That's okay, panzer grey still turns me on...
Alright, so no whitewash means one less step!
(in my best Monty Python voice) All right, let's get on with it, then !!

Laura, the painting looks very good - like on all your Panzergrau cars. I love the playing with the shadows and the lights.

Hey Laura!
The Warriors crew I was going to use is actually for this version Marder. Would you like to use them?
If you would, just send me your addy and I'll send 'em to ya!
I won't use them for any of my stash and I don't have one of these.
Regards, Ed

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
thanks jose!
thanks for your very kind offer ed! are you talking of wa35394?
those two:
???
unfortunately i cannot accept your offer out of two reasons:
- although resin figures are of much higher quality than plastic ones the very same figures are provided with the kit i am building. i would feel like a burglar if i accepted your offer. maybe someone else can use them for an else marder?
- i can't use those figures as they are in combat positions and i have chosen to do some else scenery - more desperate and 'laurastyle' - so if i accepted and you send me those figures they would wander into my not so small figures stash what would be a shame!
the latter reason is the crucial point!
but thank you very very much again for your kind offering, much appreciated!

Hey Laura ,
Sorry I have not commented on this before , some blonde keeps chatting to her friend on the computer .
I really love your Marder , I can see a well worn finish , looking forward to what your weathering will bring . I have had the diorama idea explained to me too so I know we are in for a treat !

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
richie, jose and luiz thank you for your encouragement! much appreciated!
the last time i spent with the figures! the problem is that i want them in a cold surrounding and thus i had to paint them pale with rosy cheeks, hands, noses and ears and take care that they don't come out too krusty-like!
still a long road to go:
the uniforms got their first shadows (sorry - bad pics!):

Laura -
Great selection and the poses really look the part. Your detailing is really bringing out the 'cold' aspect, and they're coming along outstandingly. Anxious to see more.

Nice job on the figgies, Laura. I heard you had a Valentine's date with a couple of Germans, but this is not what I thought!!
I'm intriqued to see how the whole scene is going to turn out. Keep up the good work!
