Re: Noel's Build: Wespe (Started the BASE)
@ Laura… thank you! Since I still have room for one more tank in my transport box, I’ll be taking this to Euormilitaire with me
@Glenn…… Thank you! The green camo was my first attempt at airbrushing wiggly lines. One wrong burst from the airbrush and there is a lot of fixing to do!
@abdin…. Thank you! I don’t think I’ll manage to finish the diorama for the Group build but I’ll continue posting the rest of the progress.
@Tony… thank you! The Wespe is my favorite as a tracked artillery piece and I’d like to build another one in Panzer Grey.
@ Johnny….thank you! This was the first time I used pigments as shading on the upper hull. I like the result and will continue using it.

Noel,
That figure brings back some old memories. The owner of Belgo was Richard Mottard. I, (VLS), was his first distributor. Way back in the 70s, Richard moved to St. Charles, very near where I live now. He had moved there from Belgium because he was in some bad financial straits and his brother had a thriving lawn mowing business there. He had obtained permission to produce Verlinden plaster castings, then known as DCS, for the American market. Wes, on this website knew him then as he worked at a hobby shop that carried the DCS products. He didn't make it financially and returned to Belgium. He started Belgo in 1984, a year after I started what would become VLS a year later and asked me to be his American distributor. I did. We became good friends over the years and I visited him many times. I can't remember the year, but at a Euromilitaire, (I thonk in the late 80s/early 90s), he was on the rear deck of Lee's Cliff Hall overlooking the Atlantic, and died very young of a heart attack during the show!
The poor guy sculpted and casted all those thousands of white metal figures on his kitchen table! Amazing!
He was a great guy!
Bob

Man that's good. The subtle shading is perfect, and I really like his eyes for some reason. It's almost like I can feel the pain of the cold looking out from deep underneath all those layers.

Noel, the guy looks really good.
I sit here in 29° C - and must look out of the window. Is there any snow? The cold comes out very true.

Bob, it’s a sad story about Mr. Richard Mottard. I have heard of someone passing away during the Euro show but did not know who it was. I’m sorry to hear this.
Here is another model of his. They’ve been in my stash for many years and came out to see the light together with the Wespe. I will cherish these figures even more now.

Hi Noel,
Great work so far on the figures. It seems you are creating a winter schene, any ideas so far about the base? Or is it just going to be the model and the figs?

The second "frosty" comes out very nice and cold too! Guess, I have the original photo of this sentry somewhere.

Thank you

Dave… yes, it’s going to be a winter scene. There will be 10 figures!
Johnny
… for your kind comments!
Another figure is nearly ready. I still have to highlight the trousers and highlight the leather stuff. He will be with an MG.

Superb figures Noel. Very well painted and they all have that disgusted "I'm F*** cold" look
