Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
thanks a lot guys!
the workbench is the place where you are happy as modeller! keeping that in mind i spent the last days with the figures and have only minor works left to do: finishing the splintertarn on the infantry unteroffizier helmet, painting his eyes (for the third time!), doing the final steps on the equipment and applying some scratches on them. then only three last additions to the diorama and everything is ready to be placed and glued onto the base!
so there will be most probably only one or two further updates with this build!
the freeze ignoring guy:
the bad mood dude:
(he needs some flat clear after finishing!)
the infantry unteroffizier:
(same here! flat clear after finishing!)
the haka bloke and the mp oberleutnant:
the freezing one and the very bad mooded panzerunteroffizier:
the two marder crewmen with coat:
the "leave me alone and bite me" dude:
as mentioned - minor works are still ahead of me but soon this endless task will end! sorry for the bad quality of some pics but it wasn't that easy to photograph them all!

Nice work Laura... really like the weathering around the bottom of the coats and boots. Very realistic........

Laura -
Outstanding figures, very well done details and look to the clothing. They really bring the theme to life. Anxious to see this all come together.

Dear Laura,
seems you worked very hard to finish this outstanding diorama.
We take the hats off.

Very nice figures Laura The muddy feet and lower body is a nice touch.
Just a tiny nitpicking if you may: The eyes on th efirst figures are a little big compared to the other figures.

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
thanks guys!
i personally am not that much satisfied with the figgies since i know i can paint better but i will live with it!
richard: you are absolutely correct! i had hoped to get away with it like they are but i will redo them! scratch away the paint and do the eyes again!

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
last update before i finish this!
again with some background music i went upstairs and did some of the last steps! (funny - that video was shot at the former location of my favorite club, the millennium! i thought i'd never see those holy halls again!)
i repainted the eyes that annoyed me, finished the figures (only applying matt clear to two of them!), spread some leaves (still wet and some are just blown all over the dio when i applied the glue - will be cleaned), made the tombstone of grave #2 (epitaph, grass and some lichen will follow), painted the fire in the fuel drum and created some smoke with cotton, added the rat and made two birds (jenny's brilliant idea!)
and those who will find the ladybeetle win a prize!!!
the tombstone:
roderick the raven:
peter the crow (sorry peter - i could not resist!!!):
the rat:
next stop will be the finished dio!

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
Looking at the faces of those poor guys made me glad I'm living in a tropical island. They really look like they are about to freeze on the spot! That's another great job you can put in the list, congratulations Laura!
Ruben
BTW, here's where I think the ladybettle is hidding.

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
although the dio is finished one detail is missing in the pics - i permanently had "now what did i forget?" in mind and after the shots, back at the comp i noticed the little detail! i'll add it and will show it when i have done a second run of the finished dio pics - better ones since i messed up some shots!
solemn music that inspired me to the title and dio itself (i strongly recommend to listen to this song while watching the pics as it is an essential part of the dio): Connie Dover: UBI CARITAS
thanks to everybody that followed and accompanied me through this build! your forthcoming support was most important for me to actually finish it!

Magnificent work Laura
The grouping of figures work well together . The Lady beetle looks very distinctive .

Re: Ubi Caritas! FINISHED!
Another congratulations from me, Laura! (The music is still on! It adds a melancholy feeling............ and makes me think of all those young boys that fell on foreign fields far away from their family)
Anyway..... great diorama! Bravo!.... or Brava!
I like the night pics and the B&W pics. This one tops the reeper/stalingrad dio by a mile! You truly did a good job on this one!
The guys around the fire in my idea though!!!! I have the same thing planned for my XLL!!!
Regards
Noel
