Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
Just two difficult to see dark photamagraphs of what I am gonna build for this group build. I really really hope that I can keep the scratchbuilding to a real minimum on this. Maybe some new tow cables and a little bit of wiring for the headlights etc.
Now lets see how long it takes me to glue the first pieces together .

Oh those Dragon Tigers in braille are soooo nice ! They go together pretty easy too , I think I had to remove two links from the tracks of mine so make sure you test fit yours first .
Are you going to put it in a diomarama with any figures ? I am not sure if there is any seats in this to add butt creases too .

Re: Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
This one has now really officially started, as I have glued plastic together. So far the only thing I did beyond OTB was to rework the drive sprockets so they were not a solid mass of plastic. The biggest job I think is done now that I have all those wheels removed from the sprue, cleaned up, glued together, and stuck permanently on the hull . I am gonna remove that little molded on track pulling cable on the side of the hull eventually, then it is about finishing up the major body construction and putting on a heavily worn coat of zimmerit. Hopefully it shouldn't take me to long to do those things once I actually start on it.
Right now the only thing I am really worrying about is that the fit of pieces hasn't been all that great so far. And the instructions are showing about 80% of what pieces go where. I'm not really to concerned about the instructions, I can get through that. I just don't want to be spending to much time rebuilding pieces because they just flat don't fit.

Hi Gary, I hope the fitting goes well. Maybe the zim will cover a few joints anyway. Are you making your own zimmerit?
Very nice work so far!

Re: Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
Hiya everyone:
Just a little bit more done on the blue Smurf Tiggy . Or Smiggy as he has come to be called around here. And I believe I am done with all the fit issues (which were quite a few for such a small kit) and will be able to get it back on track so to speak. And the zimmerit was an easy job really, just a little bit of time was all it took which I had available by switching back and forth between a good baseball game and a Nascar racin telemavision show. All that was involved was to use a pencil to mark out the areas that I wanted to be damaged/worn off, and then went at it with an X-acto knife to scratch in the zimmerit. I tried to simulate a diffrence in the pattern between the turret and the hull, as the real vehicle had a fairly heavy coat on the hull, and a finer coat on the turret. I did that simply by scratching harder on the hull than the turret. I think that in this scale it works well enough, and I think ended up being easier than smearing putty all over everything and going that route. Anyways, here is what I have done to it.
Next up will be all the OVM tools and the tow cables. I think I am going to put on the little square mount thingys for the missing side fenders, and from the photos I have seen of the real thing I believe that it did not have the sheet metal exhaust covers. So I will probably do just a little bit of work on that area. Then it is all about that sweet two tone Smurf and blueberry blue camo job .

Re: Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
A little bit more progress from last night. I managed to motivate myself to put the OVM tools on.
The biggest job was to re-work the armored exhaust covers that were pretty far from the actual shape they are supposed to be. About all I have left to do now is add the cable part of the tow cables, add the little hook/clips on the side for the track changing cable, put on the spare tracks on the front glasis and turret sides, and the antenna. I hope I will be able to do all of that whenever it is that I next get the motivation to work on it again . But that should be soon I hope. Then it is just that really kewl blue paint job.

Well if you do not get motivated , your mum wants you to vaccuum and dust the house , wash and iron the clothes , cook dinner and do the washing up ....... and would it kill you to put on some pants !
The Tiger is looking great , didn't this one have a stowage bin on the turret ?

Re: Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
Hiya Jenny:
As far as I have been able to discover with the help of the interweb, there are only three piccymatures of this vehicle. All three photos are of it in just the one spot after it had been abandoned by the crew, and captured. And there is not a turret bin on it in the photos. Also there is no track changing cable on the side of the hull, and as far as I am able to see, no sheet metal shrouds on the exhausts. So that is how I am going to do it. The only real question I still have is what colors to paint the thing, as there are several wildly conflicting theories as to what colors it had on it, and what color the "F13" marking was in. I'm still leaning towards Mel's Smurf and blueberry blue two tone camo right now, but that might change .

Re: Gruppe Fehrmann Tiger.
Gary, nice zimmerit! Did you shave down the parts of the hull and turret where the zimmerit flaked off? The parts with the zimmerit still on look a little raised, which is awesome! Then... how did it come out looking flat and even like that? I was going to save that question for when Jenny gets us together, lol! But I couldn't wait
