Griffon Model are a company based in China who produce photo etched brass update sets, gun barrels and accessories for armoured vehicles and ships.
This set adds details to the fighting compartment interior of the Wirbelwind. There is no overlap to the general detail set no. L35035, which pertains to the exterior and inside of the open topped turret - the parts normally visable. So it makes sense to issue this set as a seperate product as it is an upgrade for the parts of the model which are invisable under normal circumstances. However if you want to do the Wirbelwind with a removable turret and open hatches or as a wreck, you could purchase a Panzer IV interior set, and with this Griffon offering have a complete interior.
One fret, some brass wire and styrene rod make up the set. The sheet is a good thickness for accuracy and handling, and the parts are sharp and nicely detailed, with fold grooves on both sides.
The instructions have two pages and can be a little confusing. A bit of study is required before beginning.
Using as a reference the excellent Nuts & Bolts Volume 25 "Flakpanzer IV - Wirbelwind, Ostwind and Kugelblitz", it appears that the update set is mostly complete. The only things missing are the collector ring beneath the turret and some cables. The collector ring would be down under the bottom of the Flak mount and would be impossible to see unless you picked up the turret and turned it upside down. None the less some like to be able to display their models this way. As for the cables, the junction boxes are there on the hull walls, they just need some lengths of wire or fine solder to portray electrical or communication cables running into them.
In summary, this is another nice update set from Griffon Models, enhancing what is already a very fine model. Recommended.
Thanks to Griffon Model.
