1/24 scale accrues for the Airfix Mosquito & other scales..... 1/32...1/48....1/72

If you live in the States you can get a mossie from Spruce Brothers for
$163.00. You can also get one direct from Airfix for about $178.00. If you
get the kit from AirFix..... be ready to pay a bundle for shiping....
If I keep buying produces from the UK, I might consider buy my
own freight service.

Any way.... back to the post.

Paragon Designs makes the wheels. The spoked tire/wheels are the early
version. The other is the late version, Which is the same version the comes
with the model kit. I really do not have a problem with them.
If you don't have problems painting vinyl, if so get the resin ones, they both look good.

Paragon also makes the 303 caliber machine gun shuts for the guns in
the nose of the A/C. I suggest that you get the 303 M/G shuts. The kit ones
are made of vinyl, and look like c***, no detail at all.
Paragon also mikes a nice set of landing gear door, and hinges for them.
I think this item is a judgment call. If you want total correct gear doors, then
get them. like I said eairler........ they are rather nice.

Paragon makes two sizes of external wing Drop Tanks. 50gal & 100gal.
I purchased the 100gal long range tanks. Unfortunately the ones that Airfix
made, do not have the correct shape.

Paragon also makes a correct set of exhaust stacks for the engines. This
again is optional. If you build the version that has shoulders over the stacks.

For those of you, that like the brass gun barrels. You ca get a set of 20mm
and 303 Browning barrels from Spruce Brothers.

The seat belts are made by Eduard. I purchased mine in the UK. I do not
know if Spruce Brother carries them. Rember..... you need two sets.

.... There seems to be some confusion on the correct green
color that the inside of the aircraft is painted.

The United States Military refers to it as Zinc Chromate. It is a corrosion
preventive paint that has been used on aircraft since the Second World
War. It is still used too day, on the inside of the airframe, and back side
of panels. It comes in two colors..... green, and yellow.
Needless to say, with the Mosquito we are concerned with the green
zinc chromate. This will be a close match, and you will not have to mix
paint.

Testers, and the old Patra co.,(no longer in business), makes it. I think
Humbrol also make it, but, I am not sure. It is a common aircraft color, so
you should not have trouble finding it.......

New parts adaptable:

Mosquito Landing Gear..... by Scale Aircraft Conversions.
Main Mounts, and the Tail Mount, and swivel are include. The parts are
made out of white metal. In the US you can get the at Spruce Brothers.

PE..... Snow Guardes.... for the engine carburetor intakes.
the are made by Cammett Ltd.

Decal set....... Canadian markings for the Mossie. Several different aircraft
included. Spruce Brothers has them.

Decal mask...... for those people that do not like decals. These are mask
that you put on the a/c and paint the markings with your airbrush.
Spruce Brothers cares this item.

Hannants has two new set of 1/24 scale decals out for the Mossie.
One is an and-on too the ones provided by Airfix. The other deals with
Special Operations Coastal Command, and Mosquito squadrons in the
South Eastern Asian Theater of Operations.

For the modelers that will be building a 1/48, or 1/72 scale Mossie, you
may want to check out Hannant's. The have a very large selection of kits,
add-ons, conversions, and decals for quarter scale, and 1/72. A better
selection than I can remember in any one place. I could spend a lot of
money in books alone, they have a great selection.

The DH/98 Mosquito could carry 50gal, and 100gal
external drop tanks.

The risen ext. tanks from Paragon Designs look great.
The 100gal tanks in 1/24th scale are huge, i was stunned by there
size. None the less..... they are well detailed.

Wow,
Looks great, since it is aircraft stuff, I will have to let the A/C experts drool over this stuff. I try to stay out of the friendly and unfriendly skies...

Yup, but I prefer not to fall out of the sky... Same reason I didn't want to go on Submarines... I'll take my chances with the sharks. I want to at least start on the top of the water if I loose a ship... LOL
