Two awesome new kits from Tamiya
Some new goodies on their way from Tamiya , the BSA is slated for October release so not long to wait . The M51 is due in December so should be just in time for Santa to start deliveries to the good modellers !
35323 Israeli M51 Super Sherman
Following up on their M1 Super Sherman, here's Tamiya's M51 Super Sherman! Based on the M4A1 cast-hull Sherman, the Israelis created the most powerful Sherman varient ever with the addition of a 105mm main gun, HVSS suspension, and a 460hp Cummins diesel engine. This kit features all-new HVSS suspension parts, turret and gun parts, and more!
35316 British Military Motorcycle BSA M20 MP Set
A WWII era motorcycle with traffic control MPs. This is the late type M20, with the air filter mounted on the gas tank.

Hi Jenny
I like the M20, but I wish Tamiya had pushed the boat out and given us PE wheel spokes.

The two chaps don't look very happy. Infact I would go so far as to say that as the bloke on the bike looks like a zombie, is this the start of Tamiya jumping on the World War Z bandwagon?

Much as I like Tamiya, I can't see myself passing on the Bronco Triumph set for this.

I'm gona chime in....Jenny the engines weren't cummins engines, they were Continental R-975 Radial engines, I bet you they will get the Engine decks wrong , not to mention the smoke launchers and stowage arrangements will all be mixed up with various batches, Israeli Shermans are confusing at the best of times! but I've got drawings of the different batches if you want them I'd seriously go with the Dragon offering....Accurate armour do a real nice set to cover most of the errors....

Re: Two awesome new kits from Tamiya
Didn't the Israelis replace the Continental petrol engines with the Cummins diesel engine at some point during the conversion and/or service life?
And like you Jaymes I can't help but wonder what engine deck Tamiya supply with this kit. The question almost begs for a poll
1) Continental (standard M4A1 deck)
2) Modified for Cummins diesel
3) Any other engine deck from the Sherman family deemed appropriate by Tamiya.

Not shooting the messenger at all Jenny ,
Andy your right I've mixed it up, the used the Continental R-975 Radial engine to start off with because they simply wanted to get the 105mm was urgently needed, then the Cummins engine that's when the decks began to change, check this out for the engine deck types and engines It was what I was aiming for I bet Tamiya will get it wrong....

Jenny
Thanks for the news.

Thanks for the link.
I wonder how the Tamiya version will compare to the DML and Academy versions. Hopefully,Tamiya did their homework on this one.

They will clearly miss stuff, Israeli Shermans Are like the Davinchi code except the codes not apples it's lots of different upgrades and pick and mix sherman's and French 105mm....Some Cad shots it appears to be an early 67-73 version good news ....I'm gona print the cad work off and go through it with the drawings and pictures i've got and see what were in for i am suspicious of the running gear though....

M51 SuperSherman
Always got a kick out of the Israeli M51 SuperSherman. That 105, more of an outright artillery piece for all intents and purposes, looks way oversized for the vehicle, but leave it to God's chosen people to make it work!
Re: Two awesome new kits from Tamiya
Hey Frank you'd be surprised how well it works! Besides being under powered it worked well against its counterparts and the idea of extending the turret to counter act the recoile and the sheer size of the gun was really cleverly done, the Israeli talent in terms of military strategy and their engineering capabilities was sure a gift from god! I'm a firm believer in that if it can be improved then strive for it and perfection something the israeli's have done and have had to do it, to keep their nation safe, I am still excited for this release maybe I'll start one of the shermans I've got to do so much to do, so little time!

Re: Two awesome new kits from Tamiya
Perhaps that huge muzzle brake makes the difference, reducing the recoil to a manageable level. (and makes for a fearsome looking weapon)

Re: Two awesome new kits from Tamiya
JT you'd be surprised to know most of the Muzzle brakes in the kits are under scaled! 0.o the AA seems the accurate one....
