V-2 Raketen auf Zugkraftwagen 8t
Hello All
Sorry i have been absent the past couple of days but I have beenn rather ill ............... but while I have been down I have been working on a conversion for the V-2 rocket truck . So far I have most of the sdkfz 7 that is based on done and the rough in for the new body .......also part of the interior and will have the trailer within a few days.
Anyone who knows me will know that this will not be a one off . This is the original master for casting . I wanted to share with all my friends here .

Hi Treadhead:
Hope you are starting to feel better.
That is a real cool vehicle. I believe that they also had another model that was outfitted to be a mobile control vehicle that looked sort of similar to the one you are doing. Are you going to be doing the V2 also, or just the vehicle and trailer?

Re: V-2 Raketen auf Zugkraftwagen 8t
As of now i am just doing the vehicle and trailer ........ I am also doing a full interior . From what i can determine of these vehicles they didnt seem to be a standard production , every reference image i have has subtle differences , most of them are not aparent until you start looking really hard. So what I have done is to take the overall deminsions and the basic charasetics of all of the different ones and incorporate them in a manner that seems to be standardised. Once the basic body is done I will seperate the upper from the lower hulls so they can be cast as hollow pieces .
Hopefully people will enjoy what i am doing and soon to be offering.

Great work Treadhead.
If you are doing a full interior that means that there are windows for us to see it, right? Are they in the back?

Back with an update on this build..................... the second skinn has been added , the bolt detail on the rear and some openings have been cut. Hopefully i will be able to add all the other goodies this week .............
As soon as it is complete i will split it into a upper and lower halves so it can be cast

Re: V-2 Raketen auf Zugkraftwagen 8t
Huh now that sure is an interesting design! Almost looks like some kind of Nazi Winnebago! at least in the reference picture...
Anyway hope you're feeling back to 100% soon- this looks like it will be very interesting to follow. Now when you say it's the rough master for future casting- do you mean this is going to be a future conversion set available through ModelMakerZ?
On a side note- my local hobby shop didn't have the Pro-Weld I'm used to using so I picked up some of that Plastruct(?) liquid glue- man that stuff sure does smell! Although I'm sure it's no worse for ya than the Pro-Weld is.

Re: V-2 Raketen auf Zugkraftwagen 8t
Thanks Chris
It is slated to be a modelmakerz release . I was looking back at some reference and most of the images I have , have a much smaller bolt pattern on the rear so I am going to change that. Keep an eye out for more updates.
Also I have several more builds destined for casting ......... they will also probally be blogged like this one . I feel that it helps people to understand more about what we do , and if it inspires otheres to scratch build then that is even better.

Hear Hear!
I've mainly gotten into kitbashing figures and now have started scratching my own with left over DML heads, styrene skeletal structures and Apoxie Sculpt- mainly just out of a need for a certain figure type or if I just need a half figure for a tank crewman...
I've been lucky with vehicles- everything I've ever wanted to model has a kit or a conversion set for it. But maybe if I need to scratch something I'll have an idea of how to go about it.
My Brummbar build is going to have a bit of a scratched interior but just a little through the hatch view...
Re: V-2 Raketen auf Zugkraftwagen 8t
OK here is a little update on this v-2 monstrosity.
her is a side view showing the blast shields and the door in place with the fenders cut away in preperation fir the new ones.
the spare tire mounts and the control wire hangers are in place ...... these are on temporarily before casting.
The inside of the side door with the detail added .
Now this shows the upper and lower halves seperated to allow for interior detail........... when i seperated these I cut a higher notch on the right side so as to serve as a positive locator when sliding the two halves together.
A bit of the interior detail is started................................
