Sd. Kfz. 234/2 Puma
Sd. Kfz. 234/2 Puma by Revell 1/76
hope im not too late to join the party
i know its been a while since ive joined in here but id like to contribute to the GB
im predominantly a car and bike builder so only dabble in other genres occasionally, i also simply cannot compare with the rest of you guys for resources or skills
but after reading Jennys comments on FB id like to join in just to show my little bit of support and solidarity
..............and doing this kit means i can also do it elsewhere at the same time im a member of a site which (or at least is supposed to) focus's on British kits and is 'home' to the Classic British Kits SIG of IPMS UK, since this is a Revell repop of the Matchbox original it qualifies as a CBK
no idea how this is going to turn out, going to built oob, probably a sand/red-brown/green camo job. since its an ex MB kit it comes with the dio base, in this kit it is a section of road with pavement
ive done a few of these Revell/MB over the years and always enjoyed them, did the Sherman Firefly recently and had fun, wish id kept it and did it for this GB now but hey ho, thats how things go

all the MB/Revell repops come with one. cant understand why no manufacturer has ever done the same cos i think its a neat idea.
its always something different .....the Protze gets a road with a ditch, the Panzer 2 gets an arabic road with building, M16 got a section of railway, etc
when i did the Sherman it came with a ruined bridge section (thats aaa battery for scale), they are great for playing around with

Re: Sd. Kfz. 234/2 Puma
some progress
looked this kit up, it first came out in 1974 (Matchbox only started selling kits in 1972) which explains why there is a little bit of flash. 40 year old moulds dont last forever and Revell have had them for about 20 of those 40 years

Hi Beowulf:
That is going to be one nice looking little mini diorama when you are finished with it. And I remember those kits myself. Having the little base/diorama in the box was always a big part of the decision of which one to pick next. And your little Puma should look real good sitting on top of it.

that any help?........follow the 'orange' and 'purple' links, then you can click for a series of pics for each one
just remember that these kits are 35 to 40 years old so might not be up to the standards you expect from todays manufacturers but they are immense fun neverless
most of these are available by Revell, they always seem to have some in their range at any one time

How cool..
It is so long since I have seen one of these kits When I started building the Matchie kits they were 75 cents at the toyshop. They were all originally moulded in 2 colors. The only bad thing is it shows my age. Might have to build one for a trip down memory lane. Good posting. Dean

Re: Sd. Kfz. 234/2 Puma
sorry for the gap in updates.....ive been kinda occupied with something else on the bench
just finished one of these Yamaha Virago's by tamiya
but now its done i can get back to the teeny tiny Puma
got a base colour on
the paint instructions with this shows two camo schemes.......the tri colour stripey one on the front of the box as in the first post in this thread, and another with looks like mottled spots but instructions being instructions it aint very clear! .....ive been looking on t'internet for any colour pics of this sort of German camo but not really found anything......just wondering if any of you guys have any pics that might help. i have an idea on how to apply such a camo on something so small but id really like a pic to get an idea of what it really looks like
done some work on the base too......plan is to add some rubble at some point

Re: Sd. Kfz. 234/2 Puma
slight problem
ive made a slight cock up which has only just become apparent once ive finished painting the darned thing and trial fitted the wheels..............somehow i got the mudguards out of allignment and cant fit the wheels .....arrrrgh!.. ..too late to do any thing about it so im afraid i must withdraw the Puma from the build and consign it to the spares box
at least thats one good thing about braille scale, i havnt lost much in the way of cash
however i am still planning on using the base.......i will see what else is in the stash thats suitable and use the base for that
