Hello guys,
I have prepared a list with all the possible vehicles you can build in this forum. If we were able to build all them it would be superb, although there are strange vehicles in it. I would like to publish in Xtreme Modelling all the entries, and publishing the best models in some articles. Please, try to take the best photos possible. Of course, you can set your model in a scene or diorama. Choose a vehicle, choose a way (out of the box or superdetailed, all is valid) and go on! See you from January 1st!

Hi guys

Please forgive me for being pedantic but if we are going to use the correct vehicle designations and not succumb to the popular publicity hype that sees many misconceptions creep into what is termed as “history” then the listing for “2cm KwK38 Gepard” is not quite correct.

The vehicle concerned is a “Sd.Kfz.140 Flakpanzer 38(t)” and is armed with the FlaK38 2cm cannon, not the KwK38 2cm, also the name “Gepard” (English translation Cheetah [Acinonyx jubatus]) is not a generic term for Flakpanzers but is a specific name given to the 1970s Leopard 1 MBT based Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard (35mm Self-propelled anti-aircraft gun) and is incorrect to be used in conjunction with the Flakpanzer 38(t) or any other German SP anti-aircraft gun for that matter.

There are three kit manufactures that use the name “Gepard” in relation to the Flakpanzer 38(t) but this is incorrect and we should leave it to those who want to push that barrow for their own particular agendas and use the correct designations here.

Cheers

Welcome to Xtremely Little but Lethal (xLbL) forum Empty I agree Terry

Post  Jenny Ryan Thu Dec 04, 2008 4:20 am

I agree with you Terry . I see why it has caught on though , it is much easier to say Tiger than Panzerkampfwagen VI , there is no way we can stop people from calling a Porsche Turret King Tiger & a Henschell Turret King Tiger Very Happy

The germans should have given it a name I reckon ! I will edit it for you Wink .

Welcome to Xtremely Little but Lethal (xLbL) forum Empty short names

Post  terrya Thu Dec 04, 2008 4:39 am

Hi Jenny.

Yes, shorter is easier but Flakpanzer 38(t) is not much of a mouthful compared to some German vehicle names about.

Cheers

Yes, of course. The GB includes the Hetzer and all its variants.

Is it alright if two or more of the same model i.e. Tristar Marder III H are built by different persons here?
For instance, Jose is building the Tristar Marder III H and I'm also building the exact same model - perhaps a different paint
scheme.

Also, are 1/48 scale permitted for the group build?

Cheers
Julian

Hi Julian ,

Yes to both Very Happy , you can build any model which fits into the category , it does not matter how many people are doing the same vehicle !

Any one who wants to build 1/48th or any other scale is welcome as well ! Very Happy

Welcome to Xtremely Little but Lethal (xLbL) forum Empty Oops, sorry bout that,

Post  pzkfwmk6 Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:27 pm

I was at work when I asked, and didn't have all the info. How about Tamiya #255 Marder 3M with VP gun crew, fruilly tracks, and bits and bobs from the parts drawer? Question
I've been making a lot of my own detail pieces instead of buying aftermarket. Prices are just ridiculous anymore along with shipping costs. My best local hobby shop closed it's doors this past fall and it's killing me. The only other shops deal with railroad exclusively, and it's tough to get stuff from them. Sad

Hobby shops are closing their doors all across the U.S. have been for the past ten years, I would suggest one of the S.P. Crews from Warriors Scale Models, they fit really nice in the kit.
