pz 35(t) r2 tacam 2 the build begins (update 6-29-09)
this is my entry for this group build apart from the kit which is not bad , not bad at all i would add. i am waiting for some friul tracks and the 35(t) interior set from cmk, the latter is a must since most of the interior is visible.
and also does anybody out there knkw of a p.e. set for the 35(t) i cant seem to find any from major producers

Re: pz 35(t) r2 tacam 2 the build begins (update 6-29-09)
it is an interesting vehicle these s.p. where converted from old skoda 35(t) tanks by the romanians using captured russian zis3 76mm guns which they rechambered for their home produced resista rounds. even the armoured superstucture plating was taken from captured or disabled soviet armour. although reasonably effective due to the excellence of the gun it suffered from the same problems as the german marders and soviet su76 i.e. limited armour protection more info and postings to follow hopefully soon

scott me again
did you finish the model if so why not post some photos, we seem to have loads of articles on panzer 1 2 3 4 5
etc but very few on these type of tanks which at the beginning of the war where the most common tanks. it seems that few people realize the important role vehicles such as the lvtvz 34, 35, 38 and others such as the vickers 6 ton and derivatives played

Re: pz 35(t) r2 tacam 2 the build begins (update 6-29-09)
started building model. it will be made in sub assemblies this time. that is when i get my 35t interiors i ordered from cmk (man they are slow) the kit is quite finely detailed that is if you can get the parts off their sprues withouth damageing them (their mould maker must have been high on something) so apart from replacing most of the rivets and a new interionr plus some pe and extra detail on the weapon mount.................... i guess it just like all my other kits looks easy.........................................who cares im going to build it anyway

So..... it's out of the box and the wheels are nearly done! Not bad!
It looks ok from here....... tell us your views about this kit, please.

Re: pz 35(t) r2 tacam 2 the build begins (update 6-29-09)
ive got mixed feelings about this kit one is to put it back into the box the other is to shred it to bits. no joking apart. the model is a nightmare to build, pity realy because the detail is quite nicely done, nothing heavy or overscale apart from two padlocks on the front solitary wheel box. the problem lies mainly with the engineering of the kit. as i said in a previous post the mouldmaker must have been on a trip. the feeds on the sprues have been placed in the most awkward of places. take the wheel suspension, if you are not extremely careful you will end up with each of the 8 components broken in 3 or four places. pity realy because it is very dimensionally and detail wise accurate
NOEL i guess you know me well enough by now i m more stuborn than the proverbial mule so this model must be finished and finished to a high standard or else..............................

Good work Alex.
well I feel for you, especially if you're gonna replace all the rivets, and I look forward to see it finished.
