New SAM-/ZSU tracks coming from Friul!
Howdy All,
I emailed Friul a week ago if they were thinking about ever producing SAM-6/ZSU tracks. This was the reply I got:
Ciao Ryan,
the master of this track is ready
one month this tracks is ready
CIAO!
Giuseppe
Awesome! See if you ask nice.... Ryan

You can never have enough Friuls I always say. I don't really know all that much about Russian stuff. Do you know if these tracks will be usable on anything else like BMP's or any of their self propelled artillery, or just the ZSU ?

Just the SAM-6 and ZSU....
Howdy
Just the SAM-6 and ZSU. Some thought that the PT-76 was the same but it is not. Ryan

Oh well. It's all good anyways. I mean, it's not like you can use a set of their Panther tracks for a lot of other vehicles either
. Now all we gotta do is get someone to come out with a new T-72 / T-80 series so we have something to put besides those ZSU's with those shiny new shoes
. Trumpeter is supposed to give us the beginning of the T-62 series either this month or next. Hopefully they will sell well enough for them to consider continuing into the T-72/80. Who knows, we might even get the Black Eagle some day
.

Re: New SAM-/ZSU tracks coming from Friul!
Well, I have the MiniArm resin tracks and am happy with them. While interesting, I don't always go to Friuls. It all depends on whether the tracks are 'live' (as in no sag) or not. In some cases, I found their tracks to be either too thick (As in their Tiger I) or lacking details. Scale weight from Friulmodelismo tracks does not interest me but the ease of using Blacken-It does.
Anyway, thanks for asking them.
Gary, be wary as some of the new Russian tracks are 'live' so extra work may be needed to shore up any slack when the model is built, or over time as the metal deforms under its own weight. I had a set of older, crimp style, tracks come apart. After tat incident, I sealed the tracks with thin CA but I should not have to have done that.
Regards,

That sounds great. I hope it is not to far away.
If you have any information or link to something from SP Designs you could post it in it's own thread here in "News". There are bound to be some more modern armor guys that would like to hear about it.
