New zimmerit set from Monroe perdu Empty PVA definitely

Post  M.bishop Sun Jul 12, 2009 2:00 am

Hi Jenny,

I recommend PVA (white glue) for a few reasons:
It's ideal for gluing paper, it's very inexpensive, it allows for some working time to position the panels, it has no odor, it thins and cleans up with water, allowing some latitude in modifying the panels after you attach them and you probably have some at home somewhere already...

There is no reason you could not use CA or epoxy, but it would be a bit of overkill and won't allow for modifying the parts after attachment.
One guy at my office used "Weld-On" liquid cement by brushing it onto the paper and allowing it to soak through and melt it to the plastic, but that technique scares me.
It's not forgiving and very permanent almost immediately.

I wrote an article on my website that describes attaching the zimmerit to a 1/48 scale Panther. It demonstrates the process and answers some questions.

Yes, we have a Dragon early version kit we are making patterns for. We're working as fast as possible on these sets.

Looks easy to apply, especially if with the use of PVA glue......I suppose they will be displayed by your distributor at Euromilitaire.... I'll have a look there.

THe 1/48 scale corner of the French Village House is superb! Will it come in 1:35??

New zimmerit set from Monroe perdu Empty Euro Militaire

Post  M.bishop Sun Jul 12, 2009 8:50 am

Hi Noel and Jenny,

We should have some sets available for inspection and purchase at Euro. I haven't talked with Duncan in a little while, but I'll make sure to find out if he's attending and send some sets over.

We took a chance on making the French house in 1/48 scale because we were worried it would be too big and expensive for a lot of 1/35 scale modelers.
It's a nice set as is because you can potentially fit at least two vehicles and figures and the 3 sided building of course, on a footprint the size of a dinner plate.

We also get a lot of requests at shows for all of our kits in 1/48 scale and we could never really have anything to offer.
Now that we have released the kit, it seems people would like it in the larger scale. I guess that's to be expected.
Because we have a good technique for minimizing the weight of our castings, we can consider some larger kits again, it is just a matter of how much time we can spend pursuing the different interests that keep us so immersed.

Maybe you can produce just the corner house in 1:35. This way a lot of weight will be reduced by eliminating the base and the walls. Maybe the walls can be sold separately. Just an idea.
